The Challenge: Harnessing Extreme Sun for Grid Stability
Chile's Atacama Desert boasts the highest solar irradiance on Earth, presenting a massive opportunity for clean energy. However, channeling this potential into a stable and reliable power source for the grid came with significant challenges. The project required a solution that could not only withstand intense, continuous UV exposure and extreme temperature variations but also ensure efficient energy conversion and long-term reliability with minimal maintenance. The Ministry of Energy needed a partner capable of executing a large-scale project that would contribute significantly to the national renewable energy targets.
